A stranger here in this world, my Christian blog

A stranger here is my blog website and you are welcome here. I will try to explain what it is all about.

A stranger here is how I experience the world around me as well as the Church lately. In the New Testament we read that Christians are “strangers here” and yes, I have always felt at odds in the world system. But the real problem is, that nowadays I also feel like a stranger in most churches.

Perhaps you are also finding it difficult to fit into some churches nowadays as there are some who have watered down the Word of God, re-interpreted sections of it and some even denounce the Word of God as the “God breathed” word of God that has the supreme authority over our lives “…for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,…” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Just strangers visiting down here

In Hebrews 11:13 it is written: “…they agreed that this earth was not their real home but that they were just strangers visiting down here.” (emphasis mine) (Living Bible). In Phil.3.20 it is written: “But our homeland is in heaven, where our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ is; and we are looking forward to his return from there.” and Eph. 2:19: “ Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God’s very own family, citizens of God’s country, and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.” (emphasis mine).

Christians are citizens of “God’s country”.  Therefore, strangers here in the world we live in and “foreigners” so to speak.  This Christian blog website is about highlighting the issues in Christianity that are alienating more and more Christians who still believe that the Bible is God’s Word and a Map for their lives. If you feel like a stranger here, especially in the church and it causes you concern and sadness, know that you are not alone. In many churches things have moved far off from the centrality of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I believe the Holy Spirit is moving me to use this website to serve as a clarion call to “wake up…. the night is far gone, the day of His return will soon be here…” (Rom. 15:11 – 12).

The Word of God, the Bible

I believe the whole Bible to be the Spirit inspired Word of God, that answers all our questions. (2 Tim 3: 14 – 16; Psm 119:105). I love God’s Word and I realize that it is when we neglect reading and studying His Word that we fall into deception and false teaching. So please, if your Bible has been gathering dust, dust it off, open it and start reading with a “listening ear.” Then obey any instructions you receive. Jesus said, “If anyone loves me he will obey my teaching.” (John 14:23)

I believe that the things I write about in this blog of mine, are things that are important to assist Christians to not fall into deception and false teaching from pulpits due to ignorance of what God’s word, the Bible, teaches.

Do not feel like a stranger here? My writing may be perceived as radical

My writing may be perceived as radical by those Christians who feel quite at home in this world. Many a Christian around me do not feel like a stranger here. They accept, without much questioning or opposition, present day trends, fashions, moral changes and value changes. They have moved away from their Christian values.

They accept the changes that church leadership are bringing into the church. Things that were taboo and unheard of are now acceptable.  The Bible is twisted and quoted out of context to pacify those who feel disturbed by what they see happening.

When it comes to politics, they don’t make decisions based on biblical principles they grew up with and were taught as principles to live by.

To encourage Christians to start thinking for themselves

This Christian blog will be used to encourage Christians to start thinking for themselves and question more. I want to share my beliefs and insights formed through many years of living in this world as a Christian, mistakes I made and what I learned from that.

I hope to alert fellow Christians to become aware of how we have allowed the world system to influence our churches, our thinking and lifestyles over the last 20 years or so. In short, I want to share my thoughts as a stranger here.

God’s household members have, in general been sucked into “worldliness”. Being called a Christian has lost its distinguishing qualities. The boundaries between the church and the world have become blurred and in some cases, erased.

Many Christians do not think for themselves, do not question and challenge their leadership and, ultimately, do not read their Bible for themselves. Therefore, they do not know what is true and what is false when presented with important life changing issues.

A quote from John F Kennedy reads: “…We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

Writing here I will focus on issues affecting Christian living in this day and age. I have prayed about the issues I write about, being burdened by what I see. I believe the Holy Spirit guides me in my life and that the posts on this website are a culmination of insights on which I have prayed, meditated, researched and studied in the Bible over many years.

A journey of questioning

I humbly invite you on a journey of questioning, evaluating and ultimately have your own opinions through the “discomfort of thought”. You are welcome to leave a comment. Please use proper civility necessary to converse on this Christian blog.  Note, however, if you disagree with my writing or feel aggrieved, you are welcome but no vulgar, inflammatory writing will be allowed.

I will remove or moderate comments found to be unsavory or vulgar.  I hope that this will not be necessary as I would like to read the thoughtful comments of readers and respond to same.

I am confident that the Holy Spirit will stir some readers to think and evaluate for themselves some of the lies and deception presented to them at political gatherings, social events and often from the pulpit.  I have a real concern for what I see happening in the lives of Christians who underestimate the influence that their passivity may have on their lives and future generations.

Time has become a precious commodity and I will not want to waste anyone’s time with nonsensical topics. It is my sincere hope that you will visit often and I will reply to as many comments as possible.

May God have mercy on us all and may the Holy Spirit empower us to stand up for the truth and withstand the onslaught by the spirit of anti-Christ on our Christian beliefs.
